"Parody" Tract

Information

The Parody of the Christ is a tract exposing Mel Gibson's movie The Passion of the Christ. When printed, cut, and assembled, it is in the form of a small twelve-page (plus cover) booklet. If you'd like to read the text of the tract, please see here.

Assembly

The assembly of the Parody tract is fairly simple. This tract is very similar in form to our Harry Potter tract, with the exception that the Parody has an extra sheet which forms its cover. Page #1 of the tract's PDF file contains three cover "pages." Therefore, the main idea is to print three tract bodies (PDF file pages 2 & 3) to every one tract cover sheet (PDF file page #1). We apologize if this sounds confusing; the best way to figure this out is probably to look at the PDF file itself, which can be downloaded below. We hope to provide clearer instructions in the near future. The concept is quite easy once you get the hang of it.

The basic steps to create one are as follows:

1) Download the PDF file.

2) Print out three copies of pages 2 and 3 (page #2 on the front of a sheet of paper, page #3 on the back).

3) Print out one copy of page 1, preferably on colored (yellow) paper.

4) Cut the pages into three strips each (along the dotted cutting lines).

5) Stack the pages in order (you should end up with three tracts total).

6) Staple and fold.

More detailed instructions can be found below, along with some suggestions for adding "professional" finishing touches to increase the tracts' appeal.

Downloading the File

The printable tract file is in the form of a basic three-page PDF file. To view/download the file, right-click the tract icon below, and save it to your hard drive. You will need to have a PDF reader to view and print the file. If you do not yet have such a reader, we recommend Adobe® Reader®, which you can get by clicking on the link below.

Please Note - Important:
When printing the tract you should turn off all options that resize the page when printing, such as "Fit to Paper," "Shrink Large Pages," "Auto-Rotate and Center," and such. (Please see the sample Print dialog bow below.) The tract is laid out very precisely in the PDF file and it should print correctly without these options. In our testing, these options altered the layout and made the tract come out misaligned.

In the example below, "Page Scaling" should be set to None, and "Auto-Rotate and Center" should be unchecked.

Paper Type We suggest using good quality, white letter-sized paper for the body of the tract. We like to use colored letter-sized paper for the cover, preferably yellow or gold, as this is the color used in the film's logo. Finished Product These are some photos of the finished product.
