Harry Potter: Fun-Filled Fantasy or Deadly Deception?

 

In the final analysis, there’s only one opinion, only one judgment that counts:

 

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” II Corinthians 5:10

 

The judgments of Christ (God) can be found in the Bible (King James Version only). So, let’s compare what Jesus says (the Truth) to what is promoted in Harry Potter...

 

No Good or Evil?

 

Harry Potter was taught in his school “There is no good or evil, there is only power, and those too weak seek it.”[Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone] Jesus says:

 

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” Proverbs 15:3

 

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Matthew 28:18

 

Since Jesus is truth: “… I am the way, the truth, and the life…” (John 14:6), then Harry Potter is a lie.

Who then is behind Harry Potter?:

 

“Ye are of your father the devil,… for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8:44

 

Therefore Satan, the Devil, is the spirit in and behind Harry Potter.

 

Witches, Wizards, and Sorcerers

 

Harry Potter’s school is called “Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft.” One book is called “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” How does God view these matters?

 

“Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.” Exodus 22:18

 

“A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.” Leviticus 20:27

 

“… sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8

 

Works of Darkness

 

Sin is breaking God’s commandments.

 

“For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23

 

Satan tries to get us to sin. Satan tries to get us to sin through Harry Potter. People who follow Satan, such as with Harry Potter, will also follow Satan into everlasting fire:

 

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” Matthew 25:41

 

What does God say to do in these matters?

 

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Ephesians 5:11

 

“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” I Corinthians 15:33

 

“… Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

 

The Answer:

 

Harry Potter is a deadly deception.

 

The Choice:

 

It’s yours. Follow Jesus into heaven or Satan into everlasting fire.
