Does God Love Everybody?
Does God love everybody?
No.
-
- “The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.” Psalm 5:5
and
- “The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.” Psalm 11:5
A true Christian is under grace; he is saved by grace (please see our section on who is a Christian):
- “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” Ephesians 2:8
A person is either under grace, or under the law (works of the law):
- “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.” Romans 11:6
So, what is the law? In simplified terms, the law is in reference to the "law of Moses and the prophets" as found in the Old Testament. It is salvation by works. That is, if you keep every point of the law and never sin, then you work your way into heaven (which no man, save for Jesus, has been able to do):
- “The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.” Luke 16:16
- “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” John 1:17
- “For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.” Romans 10:5
But, as mentioned, no man has been able to do this:
- “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23
Since Christians are under grace, they not under the law, and so:
- “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Romans 6:14
and
- “But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.” Galatians 5:18
But, every person who is not under grace (not a true Christian) is under the law. Those under the law are under works; that is, they are trying to obtain salvation by works of the law:
- “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” Galatians 2:16
So, today, all who are not true Christians are under the law and are sinners, that is, workers of iniquity:
- “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” Romans 3:19
and
- “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23
and
- “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
So, all non-Christians are under the law, and are sinners. They are workers of iniquity, and therefore God does not love them:
- “The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.” Psalm 5:5
